The measurement gap

all 12 top ads have run this long

1. Ads that read like posts

Most of Liftoff's top Meta ads do not sound like ads. Womp womp didn't ask, What happend, Guess we're not going light today and Worthy sacrifice come with #gym, #gymhumor and #gymrelatable, then a liftoff.go.link link. Eight of the 12 use hashtags. Three use a plain pitch, set a goal, track every rep and rank up as you hit new PRs, and one says Free app. 4.9 rating. Ranks for every lift. All are video and all have run 220 days. Meme copy blends into a gym lover's feed and earns a watch before the brand shows up. Liftoff writes captions the way its users post and lets the video carry the joke.

2. Built for men under 35

Liftoff's estimated $126K of lifetime Meta spend is about as focused as targeting gets. Men receive 91.4% and women 5.25%. Ages 18-24 take 50.6% and 25-34 take 41.5%, leaving 5.20% for 35-44. The United States gets an estimated 50.2%, France 9.76%, Italy 3.61% and Romania 2.60%. That is the lifter who wants a rank and a leaderboard, and the meme copy speaks his language. France also gives Liftoff its best store rank, #24. Product, copy and audience fit tightly here: competition and humor, sold to young men.

3. Cheap monthly, trial friction

Liftoff Pro has 10 in-app purchases at 5 prices. Monthly plans cost $3.99, $12.99 or $14.99, and annual plans $39.99 or $79.99, a 2.0x spread. The cheapest annual is 84% of 12 payments at the cheapest monthly, so the year saves little against the $3.99 entry. Reviews show the friction. Of 200 recent reviews, 49 mention price, trial or subscription and 26 are negative, many saying no reminder came before a trial ended. Revenue also dropped -19.7% versus the previous period. A clear reminder before trial conversion costs some revenue but protects ratings, and Liftoff still holds 4.8 across 99.5K. Smaller apps should send that reminder from day one.

4. The measurement gap

Liftoff runs meme style video ads through its own link, aims 91.4% of estimated Meta spend at men under 35, and sells Pro from $3.99 a month. The question is which meme, which country and which trial path bring lifters who keep paying, not the ones who cancel angry after the trial ends.

How to measure a playbook like Liftoff's

Liftoff routes its meme video ads through its own link rather than a store page, so measurement has to connect that link to the install and to the first paid Pro month.

  1. 01

Connect Meta and see cost next to results

Spend, installs and in-app events land in one report by campaign, so channels get compared on the same numbers.

  2. 02

Send trial and purchase events back to Meta

Core sends mobile postbacks to Meta and three other channels, so the algorithm can optimize for payers instead of cheap installs. Growth adds more channels.

  3. 03

Connect RevenueCat for revenue by campaign

Subscription revenue joins the install data, so each campaign shows return on ad spend, not only cost per install.

How we built this teardown

  • Revenue and downloads are third-party app intelligence estimates as of Oct 16, 2026. Store intelligence estimates for a single app can be off by 30% or more. Treat them as a range, not a figure from the developer. Daily revenue and download series cover 301 days ending Oct 18, 2026.
  • Ads come from the public Meta Ad Library. "Days live" counts days since an ad first appeared. Spend and audience breakdowns start from Meta's EU transparency figures; country splits outside the EU are modeled.
  • Prices, ratings and ranks come from the App Store (US storefront) on the same date. Prices differ by country and by paywall offer. Review stats use the latest 200 US reviews from Apple's public review feed.
  • Category medians are computed across 147 Health & Fitness apps with active Meta ads in our set of 860 subscription apps.
  • Written by Hyunjong Choi. Ads, prices and estimates are refreshed every 30 to 90 days. Updated Oct 19, 2026.
