1. Plans grow with cameras

Aosu sells 11 in-app purchases at 10 prices. The monthly column lists $4.49, $5.69, $6.99, $8.99, $11.99, $14.99, $16.99 and $26.99. Plan names show the logic: Basic, Pro, and Pro plans for 2, 3 and 5 devices. The one annual plan, a 2 device Pro, costs $119.99, which is 223% of twelve $4.49 months, because it covers more cameras than the base monthly plan. Another item costs $202.32. Every camera added to a home raises the plan, so revenue grows with the household. Because the ads promise no monthly fees, the per device plan in the app has to stay clearly optional.

2. Creators test the cameras

Aosu's top 12 Meta ads use 10 lines, and many come from creators. One runs a giveaway: I am giving away another camera. Another tests the camera through rain, dust storms, heat and cold. Others post Black Friday deals or say they are stepping up home security with a new setup, tagging the brand. The rank 1 ad sells a solar camera kit with local storage and no monthly fees, and has run 763 days. The median top ad has run 495.5 days. Nine are video, 5 link to the web and 7 have no link. Active ads fell from 660 to 412 over 36 days. Creator stress tests show durability better than any spec sheet aosu could write.

3. Revenue doubled, installs fell

Revenue is up 98.3% versus the previous period and rose 104.9% over the 78 day trend window, peaking at $43K on Oct 14, 2026. Downloads moved the other way: they peaked at 64K on Sep 15, 2026 and are -65.8% over the window. Fewer installs earning more money suggests buyers who set up several cameras are moving to paid plans after the holiday and back to school sales. Meta Ad Library spend estimates put 79.8% of spend on men, spread evenly from 35 to 64. Reviews split: 95 five-star and 44 one-star in the latest 200, and some buyers praise not needing a subscription. For aosu, plan upgrades per household say more than installs.

4. The measurement gap

Aosu sells cameras through creator ads that stress no monthly fees, then earns from device based plans in the app. A camera sale and a plan upgrade sit in different systems. The question is which creator or deal brings a household that adds cameras and upgrades its plan.

How to measure a playbook like Aosu's

With 412 active Meta ads, many from creators, and plans that grow with each camera, Aosu has to link device sales to plan upgrades.

  1. 01

Connect RevenueCat to see revenue by channel

Every purchase and renewal joins the install it came from, so each channel shows real revenue, not only installs.

  2. 02

    Compare markets, not only campaigns

With several price points, the same campaign earns different revenue per country. Break revenue down by country and channel together.

  3. 03

    Watch retention by channel

An annual buyer and a monthly buyer look the same at install. Retention by channel shows which source keeps paying.

How we built this teardown

  • Revenue and downloads are third-party estimates from AppKittie, snapshot Oct 16, 2026. Store intelligence estimates for a single app can be off by 30% or more. Treat them as a range, not a figure from the developer. Daily revenue and download series cover 78 days ending Oct 17, 2026.
  • Ads come from the public Meta Ad Library. "Days live" counts days since an ad first appeared. Spend and audience breakdowns start from Meta's EU transparency figures; country splits outside the EU are AppKittie models.
  • Prices, ratings and ranks come from the App Store (US storefront) on the same date. Prices differ by country and by paywall offer. Review stats use the latest 200 US reviews from Apple's public review feed.
  • Category medians are computed across 38 Utilities apps with active Meta ads in our set of 860 subscription apps.
  • Written by Hyunjong Choi. Ads, prices and estimates are refreshed every 30 to 90 days. Updated Oct 19, 2026.
