Best Meta Attribution for Fitness App
On this page

For a fitness app, look for Meta attribution that follows a user past the install to Start Trial and Subscribe, then sends the right signal back to Meta. Check which Meta campaign types the plan covers, because web quiz funnels change the answer. Airbridge makes one of the tools compared here, so read its limits as closely as the rest.

What fitness apps need from Meta attribution

Fitness demand moves with the calendar. Installs tend to rise in January and before summer, and many of those users may stop early. An install count from those weeks will flatter any Meta campaign. The number you need is how many of those users start a trial and then pay.

The key events sit far apart. A user taps a Meta ad, answers an onboarding quiz, signs up, starts a trial, and pays only when the trial ends. The real result of a campaign arrives days after you spent the money. Your tool must hold that link across the gap.

Meta also learns from what you send it. Send installs and it finds people who install. Send trial starts and it looks for people who try. So the useful question goes beyond who gets credit. Ask which event goes back to Meta. Planfit reduced CAC by 40% by optimizing for free trial starts instead of installs.

Business models differ inside this category too. A solo trainer app sells a monthly or annual plan in the store. A gym brand may sell its membership elsewhere, so store purchases show only part of the revenue. Some fitness apps sell through a web quiz before the app opens at all.

What the data shows

Bar chart of the share of fitness apps showing Meta ads, Apple Ads, TikTok ads and creator partnerships, compared with a 15-category average

Bar chart of top fitness apps by estimated monthly revenue, led by Peloton and Zwift

We matched 181 apps by title in AppKittie in November 2026, keeping those with $10K+ estimated monthly revenue and in-app purchases, and 14.9% show Meta ads, just under the 15.5% average, while 40.3% carry a creator flag against 35.5%. That flag shows a link to creators, not the size of the budget, and TikTok ads appear on only 0.6%. Peloton and Zwift lead at an estimated $3M a month, but both are hardware or membership brands, so Fitbod and Sweat at an estimated $1M are closer comparisons for a small team.

How to choose

Criterion Why it matters for fitness Question to ask
Event depth A January install means little until the user pays Can I compare Start Trial and Subscribe across Meta campaigns?
Signal back to Meta Meta learns from the event you send Which events can go back, and on which plan?
Web funnels A quiz before the app sits outside the SDK Are Meta web campaigns and CAPI on my plan?
Creative detail Many fitness teams test creatives often At what level does cost data arrive?
Seasonal cost Event volume spikes after New Year How does my bill change in a heavy month?

Competitor details come from each vendor's public pages as of November 2026. AppsFlyer says its Zero plan is not suitable for apps with paid activities.

  • AppsFlyer may suit a fitness app that accepts $0.07 per conversion on Growth, since it says its Zero plan is not suitable for apps with paid activities.
  • Adjust needs a look at its pricing page first, because the table lists no price for it.
  • Branch may suit a team that wants self-serve signup and a free trial on Basics, but its price is not listed.
  • Singular may suit an app that prefers per-conversion billing, at $0.05 on Growth after a free plan of 15,000 paid conversions.
  • Kochava may suit a team that starts on Free App Analytics at 10K conversions a month and can later justify Foundation from $500/mo.
  • Airbridge Core may suit a team that wants a 30-day free trial and then $40+/mo billed on data points, not per conversion.

Fitness app funnel from install through sign up and trial start to subscription

How to set this up in Airbridge

  1. Start the 30-day free trial. You need no card and no sales call. A basic SDK install takes about 5 minutes.
  2. Connect Meta Ads. Add Google App campaigns (formerly UAC), Apple Ads, or TikTok for Business if you run them. Cost data arrives at campaign or ad group level.
  3. Send the standard events Install, Sign Up, Start Trial, and Subscribe. Core uses standard events only, so a "workout finished" event has no place here.
  4. Connect RevenueCat, Adapty, or Superwall. Trial starts arrive as Start Trial. First purchases, trial conversions, and renewals all arrive as Subscribe. This guide on connecting RevenueCat revenue to ads shows the revenue side.
  5. Turn on the mobile app postback to Meta, then read the funnel from install to subscription in the Funnel report.

What Airbridge Core does not do here

  • No Conversions API. CAPI is on Growth only. On Core, Meta receives signals through the mobile app postback.
  • No Meta web campaigns. Core covers app campaigns on all four channels, but web campaigns only on Google Ads and TikTok for Business. If your Meta ads lead to a web quiz funnel, Core is the wrong fit. Look at Growth or a tool built for that path.
  • No creative-level cost. Cost stops at campaign or ad group level. If your main question is which video variant pays back, Meta's own reports stay your main view.
  • No custom events. Workout streaks and plan completion cannot reach Airbridge on Core.

FAQ

Should I optimize Meta for trial starts or for installs?

Trial starts tell Meta more about who will pay. The tradeoff is volume. A small budget may produce too few trial starts for Meta to learn from, so check your weekly count before you switch.

Is Meta's own reporting enough for a fitness app?

It is enough if Meta is your only channel and you trust a single view. It stops being enough once you add creators or Apple Ads. Each platform reports on itself, and an attribution tool puts them in one place.

What is Signal Hold, and does it add events for Meta?

Signal Hold is in beta and works for Meta Ads on every plan. It suppresses events. It does not create new ones. Use it to keep a signal back, not to add one.
