1. Three tiers in three lengths

HyNote sells Plus, Pro and Unlimited plans in weekly, monthly and yearly lengths, and every one of its 10 in-app purchases has its own price. Weekly costs $4.99, $6.99 or $8.99, monthly $12.99, $17.99 or $25.99, and yearly $89.99, $129.99 or $199.99, a 2.2x spread. A pack of 1000 AI Generation Credits adds $9.99 for heavy users. The cheapest annual is 58% of 12 monthly payments, and all annuals sit above the Productivity median of $49.99. A clean grid of tier by length makes the choice easy to read. Reviews show the catch: users complain about monthly time limits on every package. Hynote's grid would confuse fewer buyers with usage limits stated on each tier.

2. Students at term start

HyNote's $22K of estimated lifetime Meta spend goes mostly to students: 51.6% to ages 18-24 and 33.1% to 25-34, split 50.3% women and 48.8% men. The United States gets 61.0%, Germany 13.3% and France 8.41%. The timing fits the school year. Downloads rose 155.1% in the last 30 days of the trend and reached a peak of 51K on Oct 18, while active Meta ads went from 72 to 121 in 30 days after a peak of 243 on Sep 16. Two top ads say Comment notes for free pass with #adhd, #university and #college. HyNote plans spend around term dates and uses comment hooks that students already reply to.

3. Video without words

Ten of HyNote's 12 top Meta ads have no written copy, only itunes.apple.com. All 12 are video and all link to the App Store, and nearly all have run 146 days. The video likely shows a lecture turning into a summary in seconds, which needs no caption. The two exceptions use a comment hook, Comment notes for free pass, which turns the ad into a conversation and a free trial offer at once. Over 317 days, estimated revenue rose from $81K to $202K, a 149.3% change, and downloads from 10.0K to 51K. HyNote can test copyless demo videos against a single comment hook and keep whichever brings paid weekly plans.

4. The measurement gap

HyNote sends every top ad to the App Store, targets 18 to 24 year olds as term starts, and sells 10 price points across three tiers. The question is which ad and which tier bring a student who keeps paying after exams, rather than a weekly subscriber who leaves when the term ends.

How to measure a playbook like HyNote's

HyNote sends all 12 top Meta ads to the App Store and targets students at term start, so measurement means seeing which ads bring renewals past the first week of $4.99 plans.

  1. 01

Connect RevenueCat to see revenue by channel

Every purchase and renewal joins the install it came from, so each channel shows real revenue, not only installs.

  2. 02

    Compare markets, not only campaigns

With several price points, the same campaign earns different revenue per country. Break revenue down by country and channel together.

  3. 03

    Watch retention by channel

An annual buyer and a monthly buyer look the same at install. Retention by channel shows which source keeps paying.

How we built this teardown

  • Revenue and downloads are third-party estimates from AppKittie, snapshot Oct 16, 2026. Store intelligence estimates for a single app can be off by 30% or more. Treat them as a range, not a figure from the developer. Daily revenue and download series cover 317 days ending Oct 18, 2026.
  • Ads come from the public Meta Ad Library. "Days live" counts days since an ad first appeared. Spend and audience breakdowns start from Meta's EU transparency figures; country splits outside the EU are AppKittie models.
  • Prices, ratings and ranks come from the App Store (US storefront) on the same date. Prices differ by country and by paywall offer. Review stats use the latest 200 US reviews from Apple's public review feed.
  • Category medians are computed across 53 Productivity apps with active Meta ads in our set of 860 subscription apps.
  • Written by Hyunjong Choi. Ads, prices and estimates are refreshed every 30 to 90 days. Updated Oct 19, 2026.
