Best Pinterest Ads Attribution for Nutrition App

On this page
A nutrition app testing Pinterest Ads should look for a tool that can still credit an install days after the click and put Pinterest cost beside trial and subscription numbers. With Airbridge, the plan decides how far this goes. The Pinterest integration, with tracking links and postbacks, is on the Growth Plan. Core has no Pinterest integration, so on Core you would use a custom channel tracking link and upload cost, and Pinterest gets no conversion signal back. Airbridge is the maker of one of the six tools in the table below.
What nutrition apps need from Pinterest Ads
People use Pinterest to plan. They save recipes, build meal prep boards, and collect ideas for a goal they have not started yet. That suits nutrition, but it also makes attribution harder than on a feed where people act at once.
The path is slow and full of gaps:
- Save now, act later. A saved pin may sit for days before anyone clicks through. Nothing reaches your tracking link until that click.
- Click, then wait. Someone may reach the store page, decide to think it over, and install on another evening.
- First use has a high bar. A calorie tracker asks for daily logging from day one. A coaching app asks for goals and body data. Many installs stop there.
- Pay after a reset. Nutrition demand often rises around the new year and before summer, and long plans are easiest to sell when motivation is high. A test in January may tell you little about June.
A lookback window, the time after a click in which an install can be credited, is the setting that matters most here. On Airbridge, the click default is 7 days on device ID and 1 day when the match is probabilistic, and you can adjust it up to 30 days. Airbridge's Pinterest integration identifies users with the probabilistic approach only, so the 1-day default is the one to check first. A longer window catches slow planners, but it also gives Pinterest credit for people another channel may have convinced.
Deep links have their own clock. deep linking">Deferred deep linking works for 1 hour after the click, so someone who installs the next day will land on your normal first screen and not on the recipe from the pin. Build your first screen with that in mind.
Web funnels are a further catch. Many health apps send ads to a web quiz, then to the store. For Pinterest, keep the test simple and send the ad straight to the app store through the tracking link, for the reason given in the limits below.
What the data shows

This is a small set of 35 apps matched by title, with $10K+ estimated monthly revenue and in-app purchases (AppKittie, November 2026), and it does not track Pinterest at all. Within it, 18 carry a creator signal (51.4%, against a 35.5% average), which does not prove creator videos, 9 show Apple Ads (25.7%), 7 show Meta ads (20.0%), and 2 show TikTok ads (5.7%). The revenue chart uses estimates from a small sample of 30 apps, with Grity at $200K and V Shred at $50K, so revenue here is modest, and several names lean toward sport coaching and not pure food tracking.
How to choose
| What to check | Why it matters for Pinterest and nutrition |
|---|---|
| Lookback control | Planners act late, so the default window may miss them. |
| Cost path | Without a cost sync, someone must upload spend on a schedule. |
| Conversion signal | Pinterest cannot learn from outcomes it never receives. |
| Web quiz coverage | A quiz funnel needs web measurement that covers this channel. |
| Trial and subscription events | An install from a recipe pin proves very little. |
| Test budget | At this revenue scale, a long contract is hard to justify. |

No row here covers Pinterest, so ask each vendor how it treats that channel on the plan you would buy. By price and billing:
- Airbridge Core may suit an app already on Meta and Apple Ads that wants a low-cost link test on Pinterest at $40+/mo after 30 free days.
- Airbridge Growth may suit a team running Pinterest as a real channel that needs postbacks. Pricing is contact sales.
- Kochava may suit a team that wants 10K free analytics conversions a month to start.
- Singular may suit a team where $0.05 per conversion beats a flat fee.
- AppsFlyer may suit a team that compares its $0.07 per conversion with its likely volume.
- Branch may suit a team that wants to try Basics before it asks about price.
- Adjust may suit a team that reads the vendor's pricing page first.

How to set this up in Airbridge
- Open a 30-day Core trial, then finish a basic SDK install in about 5 minutes.
- Create a custom channel tracking link for each Pinterest campaign and set it as the ad's destination. Point it at the app store.
- Review your lookback window. Choose a length before the test starts and keep it for the whole test.
- Use Start Trial, Subscribe, and Unsubscribe, which are standard events, as your outcomes. The install-to-subscription guide helps you lay out those steps.
- Export spend from Pinterest and upload it by CSV or the upload API on a set day each week. If the channel name matches your tracking link, you can see the cost in Actuals.
What Airbridge Core does not do here
- No postback to Pinterest. Pinterest cannot optimize toward trials or subscribers from Airbridge data. It has only its own view of clicks and whatever you send it some other way.
- No automatic cost or audience sync. Spend arrives only when you upload it, so reports lag until then. You also cannot sync an audience to Pinterest from Core.
- Web quiz funnels fall outside this setup. Core's web campaign support covers Google and TikTok only, so do not assume a Pinterest quiz page to app path is measured.
- No logging events. "Meal logged" and "seven-day streak" are custom events, which are on Growth.
When Pinterest is a main channel: Airbridge Growth
If Pinterest moves past a test, the Growth Plan adds what Core lacks here:
- Pinterest as an integrated channel. You set it up in
Integrations>Ad Channel Integrationand create its tracking links there. - Postbacks to Pinterest. Airbridge sends events such as Sign Up and Subscribe, so Pinterest can use them for campaign optimization. Set up postbacks before you use the tracking links, and register your ad account ID and conversion access token.
- Custom events. "Meal logged" can be measured.
Two limits remain. Cost still arrives by upload, because Pinterest is not on Airbridge's cost integration list. Catalog-based campaigns cannot use tracking links, so they need URL parameters on the destination URL.
Growth is contact sales.
FAQ
Does saving a pin count as a click?
No. A save does not touch your tracking link, so Airbridge sees nothing until someone clicks through. You will still see saves in Pinterest's own reports, which may be useful as an early sign of interest.
How long should my lookback window be for Pinterest?
There is no single right answer. Start from the default, then try a longer window if your test shows slow installs. Use the same window for every channel you compare, or the longer one will look better for no real reason.
Can I see Pinterest cost without uploading it?
No. On Core, automatic cost sync covers Meta Ads, Google Ads, Apple Ads, and TikTok for Business. Pinterest is also not on Airbridge's cost integration list for other plans. You upload the numbers yourself by CSV or the upload API.
