How we select

  • Real TikTok videos about consumer apps with English captions, posted in the last 30 days, found in a US search and sorted by likes.
  • We drop Telegram and Discord promo spam, piracy and mod-APK content, adult and gambling content, and anything on our takedown list. Promoted posts stay and are labeled "Promoted".
  • A classifier confirms each video is about a real consumer app, then labels its format and hook.
  • Ten per category, one appearance ever. Fewer than 10 qualify: the rest comes from our creator library, labeled as such. Fewer than 5: the category keeps last month's edition.
Full method

For each category, on the first Monday of every month:

  1. We search TikTok (via Apify) for two app keywords per category (listed on each category page), videos only, posted in the last 30 days, US, sorted by likes, 25 results per keyword.
  2. Keep videos whose caption is English (textLanguage = en).
  3. Drop videos whose caption, handle or hashtags match our exclusion list: Telegram or Discord promos, "no ads" / "free premium" players, mod APKs, cracks, link shorteners, adult content, gambling, and anything on our takedown list or our internal block list.
  4. Drop videos already in any previous edition of any category (one appearance ever).
  5. In like order, ask the classifier two questions before labeling: "is this about a legitimate consumer app?" and "is the app the subject, not an incidental mention?". Both must be yes, and the classifier must name the video's format and hook with at least 50% confidence.
  6. Take the first 10 that pass. Promoted videos (isAd or isSponsored) are kept and labeled "Promoted".
  7. If fewer than 10 pass, the rest comes from our creator library (AppKittie pool, same category, English captions only, passed through the same exclusion list), labeled "from our creator library", never "this month". If fewer than 5 pass, the category keeps last month's edition and the page says so.

Like, view, comment and share counts are the counts on the collection date.

What the labels mean

Format
how the video is built, such as a creator demo, a talking head or a screen recording.
Hook
what the first seconds do to stop the scroll, such as a frustration, a question or the result first.
Angle
the reason to care the video leads with, such as time saved, money saved or identity.
Offer
what the viewer gets for trying the app: free, a trial, a discount, or none stated.
Proof
what makes the claim believable: screen metrics, a testimonial, an expert, or none.
Objection
the doubt the video answers: price, effort, trust, or none addressed.
CTA
what the video asks the viewer to do next, such as download, link in bio or follow.
