Screenshots and why they convert
7 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

#1In search results
Break the cycle of sins
- sinsnot in name
- What it shows
- A “#1 APP for Christians” badge between gold laurels, four publication names in white type, and the app's cross-on-a-mountain mark cropped at the bottom. No app screen.
- Why it converts
- Gives a promise and proof in the first frame, so a visitor sees who it is for. It does not show the app in use, so what you actually do in it is left for the next images. The “#1” is the app's own claim.

#2In search results
Break Free from Temptation
- temptationnot in name
- What it shows
- A home screen: “You've been clean for: 19 Days” with a timer, shortcuts for Community, Progress and Chats, two to-do cards, and a red Panic Button.
- Why it converts
- Shows the daily loop in one screen: a day counter, a daily prompt and a button for hard moments. The large day count reads at a glance.

#3In search results
Track progress against lust
- lustin name
- What it shows
- A Content filter screen with a green shield, an “Active blocker” toggle turned on, and the line “Currently blocks more than 43 million harmful sites”.
- Why it converts
- The caption names the exact word users may look for, “lust”. The screen shows a concrete tool, a site blocker. The caption says “track progress” while the screen shows a filter, so the words and the picture do not match.

#4
Be guided by the Bible
- biblenot in name
- What it shows
- Matthew 5 in a reading view with verses 26 to 31, a highlighted verse, and an action bar with Like, Notes, Ask, Devotional and Close plus highlight colors.
- Why it converts
- Shows real scripture text, which tells a visitor this is a faith-based app. The reading screen is easy to understand without a caption.

#5
Find community support
- communitynot in name
- What it shows
- A community feed with topic chips such as “Quitting lust” and “Lust & Temptations”, and posts with reply, reaction and view counts.
- Why it converts
- Shows that other people are in the app, which answers “will I be alone with this?”. The posts are small text, so the feed reads as a social feed and not as individual posts.

#6
Grow closer to God
- godnot in name
- What it shows
- A daily reading page dated April 30, 2026, with a Reading Summary card, Season and Time chips, and the first lines of a First Reading from Psalms 31.
- Why it converts
- Adds a daily habit beyond the main goal, and the caption states the outcome as a benefit.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
Two-tone captions
A bold white line with the key word on an orange pill, such as “Temptation”, “lust”, “guided”, “community” and “God”. The eye lands on the pill first.
- 02
Proof before product
The first image carries a “#1” claim and four publication names, and no app screen. The product appears from the second image.
- 03
One idea per app image
Each app image sells one thing: a streak counter, a content filter, Bible reading, community, a daily reading. Swiping reads as a list of reasons.
- 04
One dark system
Most images use the same dark red-to-black background and caption font, with a phone frame on the app images. The app UI is dark too, so the phones blend into the page.
- 05
Captions name the problem
“Temptation”, “lust” and “sins” use the words a person in this situation might look for. The topic is clear from the captions alone.

Where the points are
- Ask happy users for a rating+2 pts
4.8 stars from 45,670 ratings. Apple's in-app rating prompt can be shown up to 3 times a year; show it right after a user finishes something in the app.
- Use the rest of the app name+2 pts
7 characters are free. Add the next most important search term.
- Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords
5 caption terms aren't in the app name: sins, temptation, bible, community, god. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.
Apply it to your app
A checklist for your next product page update.
- Show the app in use in the first image, and put proof next to it, not instead of it.
- Use real press names or ratings as proof only when they are true and can be checked.
- Make one word in each caption stand out with a color block.
- Name the problem in the words your visitors use.
- Make the caption and the screen say the same thing.
- Keep one background, one font and one frame across every image.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “Unchaind: Overcome Lust”, which uses 23. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. Unchaind uses them for sins, temptation and lust.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. Unchaind uses 7.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- Unchaind: Overcome Lust on the App Store
- Name, developer, category, icon, screenshots, rating, release and update dates (US storefront), checked Nov 4, 2026.
- Downloads and revenue
- Third-party est. for the US App Store, latest month, pulled Oct 29, 2026. Not reported by the developer.
