The Wonder Weeks Top 10 Best Paid App 2021, 2022, 2023

      What it shows
The app logo and a laurel badge reading “Top 10 Best Paid App 2021, 2022, 2023” beside a tilted phone. The phone is cut off and shows a leap timeline and a video tile.
      Why it converts
Opens with a printed award claim, which can build trust fast. But no caption says what the app does, and the cropped phone is hard to read. A new visitor has to guess the purpose from the name.
    • #2In search results

      1 subscription, 2 accounts

        What it shows
The tilted phone continues from the first image: a “Sensations, Leap 1” screen with a baby photo. A green circle states “1 subscription, 2 accounts”.
        Why it converts
Answers a practical question, whether two parents can share one plan. It is a purchase detail, not a reason to want the app, so it works better after the core value.
      • #3In search results

A personalized leap chart for your baby

        • leap chartnot in name
        What it shows
A “Leap chart” screen with bars for Leap 1 to Leap 3, dates, and Signals and Skills labels. A bell icon sits on a pink circle.
        Why it converts
The first image that shows the app's main tool in use. The caption names what the visitor gets, and the bars make the idea clear without reading the small text.
      • #4

Keep track of 400 skills of your baby

        • skillsnot in name
        What it shows
A “Skills” list for Leap 1 with Cognitive, Social-emotional and Motor tabs and checkbox items such as “You look at objects with many shapes and colors”.
        Why it converts
A concrete number gives a sense of depth. The checklist shows a repeatable task, which suggests a reason to come back. The list text is small at thumbnail size.
      • #5

Help your baby develop its skills with 70+ games

        • gamesnot in name
        What it shows
A games screen with a progress bar, “Games completed 1/3”, and cards like “Contrast booklets” with short instructions.
        Why it converts
Adds an action to the tracking: things a parent can do. The progress bar shows a clear next step.
      • #6

Share your experiences with other parents in the forum

        • forumnot in name
        What it shows
A Community screen with Forum, Videos and Poll tabs, a group called “Babies with the due date in July”, a Join button and a post by a user.
        Why it converts
Shows a social feature and a way to join a group, so the app is more than a reference tool. Closes the visible set on community rather than on the main benefit.

      Icon and design system

What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.

      120px
      60px
      40px
      • One character, a drawn baby, shows who the app is about before the name is read.
      • Simple outline on a cream tile. There is no text, so it stays clear at small sizes.
      • The cream and beige tones match the yellow shapes in the screenshots, so icon and gallery look related.
      1. 01

        Award badge first

The first image leads with a printed “Top 10 Best Paid App” claim and the logo. It is a trust signal placed early, but it takes the space where a core-value caption could go.

      2. 02

        Plain black captions on white

Most captions are a single black sentence above a phone. They are easy to read.

      3. 03

        Soft shapes behind the phones

Yellow, pink and sage circles sit behind most phones. The shapes tie the images together while the colors change from image to image.

      4. 04

Panorama across the first two images

One tilted phone runs across the first two images. It invites a swipe, but each half alone shows a cropped screen.

      5. 05

        Numbers in captions

“400 skills” and “70+ games” give the visitor something specific to picture. They are the app's own claims.

      Where the points are

      1. Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords

4 caption terms aren't in the app name: leap chart, skills, games, forum. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.

      Apply it to your app

A checklist for your next product page update.

      • Say what the app does in a caption on the first image, not only the logo.
      • Put an award or rating badge early, and keep a core-value line beside it.
      • Use a specific number in a caption when it is true, so the benefit feels concrete.
      • Make one word or phrase in each caption larger or colored so it reads at thumbnail size.
      • Avoid cropping the phone so far that the screen cannot be read.
      • Put purchase details, such as sharing a plan, after the screens that show the main benefit.
      How it works

      How the ASO score works

      1. 01

        App name, 25 points

Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.

      2. 02

        Screenshots, 35 points

Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.

      3. 03

        Ratings, 25 points

Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).

      4. 04

        Freshness, 15 points

Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.

      FAQ

      Common questions

      What is an ASO score?

A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.

How long can an app name be on the App Store?

30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “The Wonder Weeks - Baby leaps”, which uses 29. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.

Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?

The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. The Wonder Weeks uses them for leap chart.

How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?

Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. The Wonder Weeks uses 8.

Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?

They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.

Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?

Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
