Screenshots and why they convert
10 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

#1In search results
Align with Your Cycle
- cyclein name
- What it shows
- A “4.8 Apps We love” laurel badge, three round labels (Date time, Yoga, Edamame) and a partial phone with a list of activity icons.
- Why it converts
- Mentions the cycle in the headline but does not state what the app does. The rating badge sits right under it, as a trust signal in the first frame. The round labels hint at the guidance but do not show the core tracking yet.

#2In search results
Know where to focus on
- What it shows
- A phone card reading “TODAY, Luteal phase” with a curve and food and activity icons, plus Move, Eat and Do cards with short tips.
- Why it converts
- Shows what the app gives you each day: what to do, eat and move. The caption is general and names no feature a visitor would look for. The small tip text on the cards is hard to read at thumbnail size.

#3In search results
Track Your Cycle at a Glance
- cyclein name
- What it shows
- A “My phase” screen with a vertical curve running from Menstruation through Follicular, Ovulation and Luteal to New cycle. Follicular is enlarged in orange.
- Why it converts
- One idea per screen: where you are in the cycle. The caption says “Track”, a plain verb that tells the visitor what they do.

#4
Aesthetic Calendar Period Tracker
- period trackerin name
- calendarnot in name
- What it shows
- A calendar for July and August with colored day bands and day 24 circled and labeled Ovulation.
- Why it converts
- The caption names the category people look for, “period tracker”, and the calendar shows it working. Color bands make the layout easy to scan. “Aesthetic” is the app's own word for its look.

#5
Sync Seamlessly with your Partner
- partnernot in name
- What it shows
- Two phones, “Your Partner View” (dark) and “You” (light), with mood and drive cards, a “New Update!” badge and the line “Connect, Support, Love”.
- Why it converts
- A separate reason to install: share your cycle with a partner. The screen holds many small labels and a second line of text, so the detail will not read in search results.

#6
Track Your Pregnancy
- pregnancynot in name
- What it shows
- A pregnancy and postpartum insights card: a “Your Baby is the Size of” card at 25 weeks with an eggplant icon, plus “What to Expect This Week” and “What's Developing?” cards.
- Why it converts
- Speaks to a different group of visitors, people who are pregnant. It also shows that the app covers more than period tracking. The body text on the cards is small.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
Serif accent on the key phrase
Most captions pair a plain sans-serif line with a serif phrase, in orange or cream. The serif phrase is the part the eye lands on.
- 02
Two background colors in rotation
Dark olive and tan alternate across the images, with the same orange accent. The set reads as one brand while each image still looks different.
- 03
Phone cut off at the edge
Cards and phones are cropped or tilted past the frame. A single large element in most images keeps them readable.
- 04
Rating badge on the first image
A “4.8 Apps We love” laurel sits under the headline. It is the only printed trust signal in this set.
- 05
Captions cover more than periods
Cycle, period tracker, partner sync and pregnancy each get an image. The app speaks to several kinds of visitors.

- Put a rating or award badge near the top, and keep it specific.
- Give each screenshot one idea and one large element.
- Use one accent color and one type pairing on every image.
- Use the words your users use in the caption, such as “period tracker”, when it is true to the app.
- Keep card text large enough to read when the image is shrunk.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “Lively - Period Tracker, Cycle”, which uses 30. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. Lively uses them for cycle and cycle.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. Lively uses 10.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- Lively - Period Tracker, Cycle on the App Store
- Name, developer, category, icon, screenshots, rating, release and update dates (US storefront), checked Nov 4, 2026.
- Downloads and revenue
- Third-party est. for the US App Store, latest month, pulled Oct 29, 2026. Not reported by the developer.
