Screenshots and why they convert

6 screenshots of up to 10. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

  1. Screenshot 4: Sell Globally in Any Language
  2. Screenshot 5: Effortless Video Creation
  3. Screenshot 6: AI Agents Shape the Story
  1. #1In search results

    Product Photo to Video Ad

    • product photonot in name
    • video adnot in name
    What it shows
A burger photo in a small circle with an arrow to the animated video result, a “VIDEO AD” tag, the prompt “Make this burger look irresistible.” and a frame strip. A gray line below the headline reads “One photo. Ready to run.”
    Why it converts
Shows the input and the output in one frame, so a visitor sees what the app does without reading more.
  2. #2In search results

    Static Photos to Video

    • photos to videonot in name
    What it shows
A car photo in a small card with an arrow to a cinematic coastal road video, and a prompt box reading “Add speed and cyberpunk lighting.”
    Why it converts
Repeats the photo-to-video promise with a different product, which shows the range. The prompt box shows how a user steers the result.
  3. #3In search results

    AI Spokesperson for Your Shop

    • ai spokespersonnot in name
    What it shows
A woman holding a lipstick, an “Emma” avatar with a Create button, a prompt using @Emma and @Image tags, and chips for Selling Points, Scripts and Translation.
    Why it converts
Names a second use: a presenter for product ads. The @ tags in the prompt show how a photo and a presenter combine.
  4. #4

    Sell Globally in Any Language

    • translationnot in name
    What it shows
A bearded man in a red cap at a laptop with a microphone, and an EN text field with ES, TH, RU and JA translations below it.
    Why it converts
Speaks to sellers who want ads in other markets. The translation lines are small UI text.
  5. #5

    Effortless Video Creation

      What it shows
A woman presenting a perfume bottle, an “Agent” label, a prompt with @Emma and @Image tags, an inset product photo and a slider.
      Why it converts
The caption is general and names no feature. The image repeats the presenter idea from the third screenshot, so it adds little new.
    • #6

      AI Agents Shape the Story

      • ai agentsnot in name
      What it shows
Three tilted portrait cards of different presenters on a blue background with star shapes. No app UI is visible.
      Why it converts
Closes on the range of presenters. With no UI, it explains little about how the app works.

    Icon and design system

What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.

    120px
    60px
    40px
    • One shape, a K built from petals, carries the whole icon. It has no text beyond the letter.
    • Green-to-blue gradient on black. The screenshots use blue with cyan headlines, so the two share a blue family.
    • Large simple shapes and high contrast, so it should hold up at small sizes. A dark-mode check is still worth doing.
    1. 01

Input to output in the first image

The first screenshot puts a product photo next to the finished video ad. The visitor sees the before and the after together.

    2. 02

      Similar frame across the set

Most images share a blue gradient, cyan headline, gray subline and blue phone frame. The content changes while the frame stays similar, so the set reads as one system.

    3. 03

      Headline plus a gray subline

A two-line headline carries the idea. A gray line adds detail.

    4. 04

      Prompts shown on screen

Several images show the text prompt that made the result. This tells a visitor how little input the app needs.

    5. 05

      Presenter avatars repeat

Several images show a presenter. The idea repeats across them, so a later image adds little new.

    Where the points are

    1. Ask happy users for a rating+10 pts

4.8 stars from 563 ratings. Apple's in-app rating prompt can be shown up to 3 times a year; show it right after a user finishes something in the app.

    2. Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords

6 caption terms aren't in the app name: product photo, video ad, photos to video, ai spokesperson, translation, ai agents. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.

    Apply it to your app

A checklist for your next product page update.

    • Show the input and the output together in the first screenshot.
    • Name the concrete job in the headline, such as “Photo to Video Ad”, not a general promise.
    • Keep one frame, one color family and one caption style across the set.
    • Put the key words in the large headline. Treat sublines as optional reading.
    • Show a real prompt or setting so visitors see how little effort the app needs.
    • Give each image a different idea. If two images say the same thing, replace one.
    How it works

    How the ASO score works

    1. 01

      App name, 25 points

Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.

    2. 02

      Screenshots, 35 points

Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.

    3. 03

      Ratings, 25 points

Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).

    4. 04

      Freshness, 15 points

Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.

    FAQ

    Common questions

    What is an ASO score?

A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.

How long can an app name be on the App Store?

30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “Kiva: AI Product Video & Ads”, which uses 28. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.

Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?

The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. Kiva uses them for product photo, photos to video and ai spokesperson.

How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?

Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. Kiva uses 6.

Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?

They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.

Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?

Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
