Screenshots and why they convert
8 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

#1In search results
GPS Field Area Measure with Confidence
- gps field areanot in name
- What it shows
- A map screen with a drawn field outline, an area of 40530 m² and a perimeter of 805.28 m in the header, and the same area labeled on the field.
- Why it converts
- Shows the core job in the first frame: draw a boundary, get an area. The large number sits on the field, so the result is clear at a glance, and the caption names what people look for.

#2In search results
Loved By 12M+ Field Workers Worldwide
- What it shows
- A person in a hard hat and safety vest holding a phone, a surveying tripod, and floating tool icons. A laurel badge reads “12M+ Field Workers”.
- Why it converts
- A user-count claim and a work-site photo put social proof early. The number is the app's own claim. It names who the app is for, but the frame shows little of the product itself.

#3In search results
Measure Routes Point-to-Point Distance
- distancenot in name
- What it shows
- A city map with a blue route line, a distance of 22.8 km in the header, and a latitude and longitude label on a pin.
- Why it converts
- Adds a second use, distance, in the same layout as the first. The header card shows the result in large type.

#4
Measure Perfect Circular Boundaries
- circular boundariesnot in name
- What it shows
- A circle drawn on aerial land, with an area of 845.3955 ft², a perimeter, a radius of 5 m, and a hand pointing at the circle edge.
- Why it converts
- Shows a specific shape tool instead of a general claim. A hand icon points at the action, which makes the step easy to follow.

#5
Track Every Point With GPS Coordinates
- gps coordinatesnot in name
- What it shows
- A marker on an aerial photo of a building, latitude and longitude values in the header, and an edit-coordinates panel with a decimal format menu.
- Why it converts
- Covers people who need exact coordinates. The screen holds many fields, so the small panel text is hard to read at thumbnail size.

#6
Save Your Work View Measurements
- What it shows
- A save form with a property name, property type icons, a group menu, and a photo list with an Add Photo button. Blue callouts read “Set Your Property” and “Add Property Photos”.
- Why it converts
- Shows what happens after a measurement: it can be saved and organized. Callouts point at the parts that matter, but the form is a settings-style screen with lots of small text.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
Two-line captions
A bold white line states the feature, then a second line adds detail. The keyword is in the first or second line, near the top of most images.
- 02
One tool in most screenshots
Area, routes, circles, coordinates and saving each get their own image. Most captions name a task a visitor might look for.
- 03
Result shown as a large number
Most measurement screens put the value in a header card, and the first screen repeats it on the map. The outcome is visible before any caption is read.
- 04
Same frame on most images
Most images share a sky-blue background, a phone frame and the same blue outline style. The set reads as one system.
- 05
Social proof as its own frame
The second image is a work-site photo with a “12M+ Field Workers” badge, a claim made by the app. It sits between product screens and tells visitors who uses it.

Where the points are
- Ask happy users for a rating+11 pts
4.5 stars from 10,268 ratings. Apple's in-app rating prompt can be shown up to 3 times a year; show it right after a user finishes something in the app.
- Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords
4 caption terms aren't in the app name: gps field area, distance, circular boundaries, gps coordinates. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.
Apply it to your app
A checklist for your next product page update.
- Show a finished result in screenshot 1, not a menu or a logo.
- Name one task per caption, using the words your users use.
- Print the key number in large type so it reads at thumbnail size.
- Keep one background, frame and outline style across the whole set.
- Use a trust claim only if it is true and specific, and put it near the front.
- Trim small-text screens, or use callouts to point at the one part that matters.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “FieldCalc - GPS Area Measure”, which uses 28. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. FieldCalc uses them for gps field area and distance.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. FieldCalc uses 8.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- FieldCalc - GPS Area Measure on the App Store
- Name, developer, category, icon, screenshots, rating, release and update dates (US storefront), checked Nov 4, 2026.
- Downloads and revenue
- Third-party est. for the US App Store, latest month, pulled Oct 29, 2026. Not reported by the developer.
