Screenshots and why they convert
8 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

Best Self-Study App for Class 9
- class 9in name
- What it shows
- A list titled “All Class 9 Courses”: Science, NCERT Textbooks & Solutions, Chapter Notes and Social Studies, each with a thumbnail. The EduRev logo sits above the caption on a mint background.
- Why it converts
- Names the grade and the kind of app in the first frame, so a Class 9 student knows it is for them. The course list shows what is inside. “Best” is the app's own claim.

Videos to Learn, Understand & Build Concepts
- What it shows
- A video player over a solid versus liquid particle diagram, with a play button and an “Up Next” list below it.
- Why it converts
- Shows lessons are videos, with a real science topic on screen. The video panel is enlarged past the phone frame, so it reads at small size.

NCERT Chapter-wise Revision Notes
- ncertnot in name
- revision notesnot in name
- What it shows
- Chapter notes on the French Revolution, with an introduction and an illustration of the storming of the Bastille on a yellow background.
- Why it converts
- Names NCERT, the textbook series students already look for, and says what the notes are for: revision. A real history page makes the content concrete.

#4
Subject-wise Mind Maps
- mind mapsnot in name
- What it shows
- A mind map titled “Matter in our Surroundings” covering solids, liquids, gases and plasma, with small diagrams and a state-change chart.
- Why it converts
- Shows one finished study aid instead of describing it. The text inside the map is small, so the caption does the work at thumbnail size.

#5
CBSE Sample Papers & Solved PYQs
- cbse sample papersnot in name
- pyqsnot in name
- What it shows
- A “Sample Papers for Class 9” card with “29,533 students learning this week”, and a subject list with document and test counts and a Practice tag.
- Why it converts
- Names the exam board and a study item students look for. The printed user count is a specific, relevant signal, shown on the card and not as a badge.

#6
NCERT Books & Solutions for All Subjects
- ncert booksnot in name
- solutionsnot in name
- What it shows
- An “NCERT Textbooks & Solutions for Class 9” card with the same weekly student count, over a subject list showing topic and document counts.
- Why it converts
- Covers a second thing students look for: the textbooks and their solutions. It reuses the card layout from the sample papers image, so the set stays consistent.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
Two-line captions
A light line, then a bold line. The bold line names the content: Revision Notes, Mind Maps, Sample Papers.
- 02
One content type per image
Courses, videos, notes, mind maps, sample papers, textbooks. Each image sells one thing a student might look for.
- 03
Colored backgrounds in a shared layout
Mint, purple, yellow and coral, with mostly the same caption position, phone frame and floating shapes. The colors change while the system stays close to the same.
- 04
Real study pages as proof
Most phones show an actual lesson, note or chart, not a blank interface. A student can see what they would study.
- 05
Exam and syllabus names in captions
NCERT and CBSE are printed in captions. They are the words students use for their material.

- Show one content type per screenshot and name it in the caption.
- Put real content on screen, not an empty interface.
- Use the words your users use, such as exam board or syllabus names.
- Keep one layout and change only the background color to add variety.
- Print a specific number, such as weekly learners, only if it is true and recent.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. Class 9 Study App by EduRev uses them for class 9 and ncert.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. Class 9 Study App by EduRev uses 8.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- Class 9 Study App by EduRev on the App Store
