Screenshots and why they convert
9 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

#1In search results
Manage your farm. Manage your finances.
- farmnot in name
- financesnot in name
- What it shows
- A Wallet screen with a business account balance of $420,599.49, a linked checking account and a blue Transfer & Pay button.
- Why it converts
- Says who the app is for and what it does in one line. The money screen shows the finance half of the promise, so a farmer can tell what the app is about without reading the store text.

#2In search results
Analyze profit and loss at the farm, crop, or field level.
- profit and lossnot in name
- What it shows
- A Profit & Loss screen with total revenue, total costs and total profit, then a 2025 Corn block with yield and a cost summary.
- Why it converts
- Names a job a farm owner already does, in the words they use. The three totals at the top show revenue, costs and profit.

#3In search results
View all cash contracts, automate entry from buyers in Bushel Network.
- cash contractsnot in name
- What it shows
- A Cash Contracts list with an Add contract button, search, and one contract showing buyer, commodity, delivery dates, quantity and a $4.62 price.
- Why it converts
- Names a specific record farmers keep track of. The caption adds a brand term (Bushel Network) that a new visitor may not know.

#4
Sell your grain into the best market with confidence.
- grainnot in name
- What it shows
- A Marketing screen with a Corn card: 25% marketed, 75% unprotected, an average sold price of $4.86 and a current market price of $4.75.
- Why it converts
- Speaks to the outcome of selling grain well. The progress bar and the two prices are the visible proof of what the caption promises.

#5
Spend less time manually entering data.
- What it shows
- A Settings screen with a Connections list: Climate FieldView and John Deere Operations Center, each with an Import button.
- Why it converts
- Answers a common objection, that setup will mean a lot of typing. Showing known farm-software names makes the claim concrete.

#6
Keep up with field conditions across your entire farm.
- field conditionsnot in name
- What it shows
- A Fields screen with 45 fields and 3,660 ac, and a Burnside field card with a rainfall chart, 0.95" and a 24-hour forecast.
- Why it converts
- Adds the day-to-day side of the app. The rainfall and forecast card gives a reason to open the app often.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
A shared yellow background and layout
Most images share the same yellow, the same black caption on top and the same phone frame. The set reads as one system and matches the icon.
- 02
Captions name farm jobs
Profit and loss, cash contracts, grain sales and field conditions are tasks a farm owner already has. Four of the captions name one of them.
- 03
Finance first, then fields
The first images cover money, profit, contracts and sales. Field conditions come last.
- 04
Real-looking data on the screens
Balances, prices and acreage are filled in, so the screens look like a farm in use.
- 05
Full sentences as captions
Captions are sentences with a verb, not labels.

Where the points are
- Use the rest of the app name+23 pts
24 characters are free. Add the next most important search term.
- Ask happy users for a rating+10 pts
5.0 stars from 3 ratings. Apple's in-app rating prompt can be shown up to 3 times a year; show it right after a user finishes something in the app.
- Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords
6 caption terms aren't in the app name: farm, finances, profit and loss, cash contracts, grain, field conditions. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.
Apply it to your app
A checklist for your next product page update.
- Say who the app is for and what it does in the first caption.
- Name the jobs your users already do, in their words.
- Use one background color and one layout on every image.
- Match the screenshot color to the icon color.
- Keep captions short. If a caption needs three lines, cut a clause.
- Show a rating, award or user count if you have one. None is printed on these images.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. Bushel uses them for farm, profit and loss and cash contracts.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. Bushel uses 9.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- Bushel on the App Store
- Name, developer, category, icon, screenshots, rating, release and update dates (US storefront), checked Nov 4, 2026.
- Downloads and revenue
- Third-party est. for the US App Store, latest month, pulled Oct 29, 2026. Not reported by the developer.
