Screenshots and why they convert
9 screenshots of up to 10, the first 6 shown here. The first 3 show in search results when there's no preview video.

#1In search results
Intermittent Fasting
- intermittent fastingin name
- What it shows
- A fasting timer ring reading “Now: Fasting” with 09:58:39 remaining, above two laurel badges: “35 Million Downloads, 4.8 stars” and “No.1 Health & Fitness App in 48 countries”.
- Why it converts
- Names the topic in large type and shows the timer, so a visitor sees what the app does at once. The badges are the app's own claims, shown on the first image.

#2In search results
Feel Great and Lose Weight Your Personal Fasting Program
- lose weightnot in name
- fastingin name
- What it shows
- Three overlapping photo cards labelled “16-8 Fasting”, “Health Cure” and “Fat Killer”.
- Why it converts
- Leads with a result people want, then names a program. “16-8 fasting” is a plan name some visitors already look for. The app UI is not shown here.

#3In search results
Fasting Tracker: See results
- fasting trackernot in name
- What it shows
- A weight chart ending at 159.8 lbs with a “-26.5 lbs” badge and a 150 lbs goal line, plus a water tracker at 41 oz of a 74 oz goal.
- Why it converts
- Shows progress as a chart with a goal line. Cards are enlarged past the phone frame, so the numbers stay readable when small.

#4
Your Coach Fasting Plans, Weekly Challenges, Daily Coachings
- fasting plansnot in name
- What it shows
- A weekly fasting and eating bar chart, a timeline from “Fasting has started” to “Autophagy begins after 14 h”, and an anatomy figure. A check list sits below.
- Why it converts
- Turns the coach idea into three named features a visitor can scan.

#5
Your guide for nutrition, health and motivation
- nutritionnot in name
- What it shows
- A list of article cards tagged Body & Mind, Nutrition, Basics and Motivation, with photo thumbnails. Below it: “For quick and sustainable results”.
- Why it converts
- Shows that the app includes reading content, not only a timer. The caption is a general promise, so it is less concrete than the others.

#6
More than 100 tasty recipes
- recipesnot in name
- What it shows
- A large plated meal photo with an “ideal for fasting” badge and six category tiles: Breakfast, Main dishes, Soups & Salads, Desserts, Snacks, Favorites.
- Why it converts
- Food photos give an emotional reason to install. The printed “More than 100” makes the content size concrete. It also names recipes, a feature people look for.
Icon and design system
What makes the page read as one brand at a glance.
- 01
Printed claims first
The first image carries a download count, a star rating and a “No.1 Health & Fitness App” claim. These are the app's own claims, shown before any feature.
- 02
Cream and green on most images
Cream top, green wave, dark gray italic headlines with green accents. The set reads as one system.
- 03
Cards break out of the phone
The weight chart and water tracker are enlarged past the frame. The key numbers stay readable when small.
- 04
Content beyond the timer
Programs, a coach, articles and recipes are each shown. The app is presented as a plan, not only a clock.
- 05
Headlines name familiar topics
Fasting tracker, 16-8 fasting, lose weight and recipes appear in the captions. Each is a feature or topic people look for.

4.7 stars from 146,380 ratings. Apple's in-app rating prompt can be shown up to 3 times a year; show it right after a user finishes something in the app.
- Check caption terms against your subtitle and keywords
5 caption terms aren't in the app name: lose weight, fasting tracker, fasting plans, nutrition, recipes. Captions don't count for search; the subtitle and the 100-character keyword field do.
Apply it to your app
A checklist for your next product page update.
- Show what the app does in screenshot 1, and name it in large type.
- Put a rating or user count in the first image only if it is real and current.
- Enlarge the one number or chart that proves the point.
- Use one background, one font style and one accent color on every image.
- Match the icon color to the screenshot color.
- Show real food, people or results photos when the UI alone does not sell the feature.
How the ASO score works
- 01
App name, 25 points
Up to 10 for how much of Apple's 30 characters it uses, 10 for a brand + keyword structure, 5 when keywords fill half the name or more.
- 02
Screenshots, 35 points
Captions on every image, captions that name searched features, a first screenshot that shows the main use, one design system, readability at search size, and a trust signal.
- 03
Ratings, 25 points
Up to 15 for the average (from 4.0, full marks at 4.8) and 10 for the count (from 1,000, full marks at 100,000 ratings).
- 04
Freshness, 15 points
Full marks for an update in the last 30 days, falling to zero at 180 days. 85+ is excellent, 70+ strong, 50+ fair.
Common questions
What is an ASO score?
A 100-point check of the parts of an App Store page you control: the app name, screenshots, ratings and how recently the app was updated. It's our own scoring rule, shown in full on this page, not a number from Apple. Use it to compare your page with apps that already sell well in your category.
How long can an app name be on the App Store?
30 characters. A common pattern is a short brand followed by the main thing people search for, like “BodyFast: Intermittent Fasting”, which uses 30. Apple also gives you a 30-character subtitle and a 100-character keyword field for more terms.
Which screenshots show up in App Store search results?
The first one to three, when the app has no preview video. That's why the first three should cover the main reasons people download. BodyFast uses them for intermittent fasting, lose weight and fasting tracker.
How many screenshots can an iPhone app have?
Up to 10 per device size. Apple recommends focusing each screenshot after the first on one main benefit or feature. BodyFast uses 9.
Where do the download and revenue numbers come from?
They're third-party estimates for the US App Store, not figures reported by the developer. Treat them as a sense of scale. Growth compares the latest month with the month before.
Do screenshot captions help an app rank in search?
Apple says search results use text matches in the app name, subtitle, keywords and primary category, plus user behavior such as downloads, ratings and reviews. Captions aren't on that list: they help people who already see the app decide to download. When a caption names something people search for, put that term in the keyword field too.
Where the numbers come from
- Apple: Creating your product page
- App name limit (30 characters), up to 10 screenshots, the first one to three shown in search results, keyword field.
- Apple: App Store search
- Search results use text relevance (name, subtitle, keywords, primary category) and user behavior (downloads, ratings, reviews).
- Apple: Ratings, reviews and responses
- The in-app rating prompt can be shown up to three times in a 365-day period.
- BodyFast: Intermittent Fasting on the App Store
- Name, developer, category, icon, screenshots, rating, release and update dates (US storefront), checked Nov 4, 2026.
- Downloads and revenue
- Third-party est. for the US App Store, latest month, pulled Oct 29, 2026. Not reported by the developer.
