What is Programmatic digital-out-of-home (pDOOH)?

Programmatic digital-out-of-home (pDOOH) is the automated buying and selling of digital out-of-home advertising inventory through technology platforms such as demand-side platforms (DSPs) and supply-side platforms (SSPs). pDOOH enables advertisers to programmatically target audiences on physical digital screens, such as billboards, transit displays, and retail signage, using real-time data signals. It brings the precision and automation of online programmatic advertising to the physical world.

How it works

pDOOH operates through the same foundational infrastructure as online programmatic advertising. Advertisers define targeting parameters in a DSP, which queries available DOOH inventory via an ad exchange or SSP.
